My APPROACH
I believe voice lessons should be the perfect balance of artistry, science and humanity.
I view my role as a teacher as a true collaborator and caretaker; my students and I work as a team to ensure their individual needs and artistic goals are met. My ultimate priority is for my students to become the best versions of themselves as singers and artists.
I believe our voices are extensions of ourselves, our personalities, and our hearts. Everyday, the vast majority of us use our voices to communicate, express ourselves, show love to others, and contribute good to the world, whether we are singing or speaking. Such an important instrument, made of living tissue, must be handled with the utmost care. I view my role as a teacher as a true collaborator and caretaker; my students and I work as a team to develop beautiful, sustainable vocal technique that serves overall vocal use and vocal health, musicianship, and storytelling.
Based on my thorough knowledge of vocal function and critical listening skills, I teach my students to understand and develop the foundational principles of singing and offer individualized input and practical vocal tools throughout our lessons. I tailor my instruction to uniquely fit each student’s vocal needs and goals so they can find and maintain a balanced, consistent, and healthy sound, in and outside of our sessions.
While all genres are welcomed in my studio, I specialize in teaching musical theatre. By utilizing a cross-training approach based on current vocal science and research, I equip my students to develop all aspects of their voice, ensuring their instruments are reliable and authentic across the many styles and demands of the musical theatre landscape. In addition to building solid vocal technique, I help students build their books via carefully selected repertoire, prepare for auditions, and incorporate all aspects of character work and storytelling.
Above all, I teach with joy. We cannot learn and grow without making mistakes along the way, therefore, I prioritize creating a positive and safe environment where students are free to ask questions, explore, and try new things with fearlessness.
Singers of all levels are welcome in my studio. At this time, please be advised that I do not work with students under the age of 14.
TESTIMONIALS
“Singing with Julia has been an absolute game changer. I’ve never felt so safe, supported, and free. She gives me new tools every week from her vast wealth of knowledge and personalized each interaction based on what I need and how my system works. As a classically trained singer, I had always been a tad terrified of my belt. Julia has completely unlocked that strategy for me and it’s even, dare I say, improved my classical technique! I have never trusted anyone more with my instrument. She is TRULY the best!”

"After the pandemic I felt like I was very vocally out of shape. Julia helped me tap back into training and helped me re fall in love with the process! She helped me find tricks for proper placement for my mix and for blending my head and chest voice. She is incredibly welcoming, easy going, and so well trained. Grateful to have found her, and hopefully she'll keep me!

”Julia is not only a fantastic vocalist and teacher, she has a wonderful personality to match it. I have learned so much from her in just a few months of lessons. Her style of teaching the whole voice as one instrument is a concept that has helped me grow tremendously as an artist. Her knowledge of vocal technique and the musical theatre side of voice is extensive. Her wisdom has not only helped me grow in my vocal technique and artistry, but also as a young person in the theatre industry. I highly recommend booking a lesson!”

“I sincerely think Julia is the best vocal coach I’ve had. She listens to your voice attentively and tries different techniques to see what vocal exercises work best with you. She checks in with you throughout the lesson to see how you’re reacting to the exercises and adjusting if needed. She also helped me choose songs based on my vocal type, I definitely recommend! ”
